How to make a sample cut another sample Post #1

Right,

basically i've got a sample sliced over 16 keyes. what i want to do is have full release on so that i don't need to hold down the key to play the sample, but when i press the next key, i want the previous sample to stop playing, so that they don't mix up. i know that its possible in FL, where the newly played sample is "cut by" the previous one. is this possible? hope i was able to explain it.

cheers

What you're looking for is assignable note/mute groups, Post #2

which the RS7k doesn't have for samples. Some of the internal TG drum kits do have assignable mute groups, where if you hit one sound (i.e. Open HiHat) then the next sound in the same mute group shortly thereafter (i.e. Closed HiHat) while the first is still sounding it will stop playback of the first sound (just like a real drumkit would).

This post from the past explains a possible workaround:

if you do want to hear more than one drum note at time though, eg a bass drum and a hat it may be worth resampling the sound of the closed hat muting the open hat, and then adding this new sample to the kit in poly mode.
